Comments
Further restricted to use in a secondary care, hospice or community setting. This strength should be initiated by or under the supervision of a palliative care consultant. Care should be taken to minimise any risk of administration error with the introduction of this strength, refer to local board procedures for the safe supply. Noted intermittent supply constraints with diamorphine and price changes since original SMC advice. When diamorphine is available, oxycodone may be considered as an alternative option to diamorphine taking into consideration acquisition cost.
